Welcome to the Tyakunda District the Land of the Rolling Hills. Tyakunda District covers the western suburbs of Brisbane on the north side of the the Brisbane River. Tyakunda district is named after the Aboriginal word for rolling hills, which depicts the hills in the locality. Tyakanda district was originally formed around 1965, and the first District Commissioner (Acting) was Dr H. E. Young. In 1972, groups from Brisbane West district were absorbed into Tyakunda district. The Tyakunda District badge was designed by Trevor Rees-Thomas a Cub Scout Leader with either the 1st or 3rd Toowong Scout Group. Tyakunda District have the following Active Groups.
